China is planning to build a $2.1 billion (13.8 billion yuan) technology park dedicated to developing artificial intelligence (AI), state-backed news agency Xinhua reported Wednesday.
The park will be built within 5 years in the suburban Mentougou district in western Beijing and it will cover 54.87 hectares.
The campus is expected to attract about 400 businesses, with an estimated annual output value of about about $7.7 billion (50 billion yuan).
The new park will be connected by 5G mobile internet, a super computer and cloud services and it will be focusing on high-speed big data, cloud computing, biometrics and deep learning.
China hopes to make a “major breakthrough” in AI technology by 2025.
