The missing genes.
Postdoctoral Research Fellow, University of Oxford
I am an evolutionary biologist and I love weird animals! My main research interest involves how changes in the genome and alterations in gene regulation can give rise to innovations, and how these relate to evolutionary adaptation. My current project is funded by the Wellcome Trust and seeks to use the inhibitor proteins venomous snakes use to protect themselves against their own venom to develop novel antivenoms. In particular I am focused on developing a novel method of antivenom production.
